Founder's Story

Briwok was born from a life radically reimagined.
Designer Taryn traded snow-covered ski slopes in Canada for a tiny island paradise off the coast of Queensland — and never looked back. She now lives what she calls an “eternal summer holiday” on North Stradbroke Island, where the colours are vivid, the pace is unhurried, and beauty is everywhere you look.
That life is in every piece she makes.
Briwok jewellery is inspired by the island’s laid-back energy — the warm tones of shell and stone, the glint of sun on water, the kind of adornment that feels effortless whether you’re ocean-side or city-bound. Each design is a mix of contemporary form and natural character: relaxed luxury for the woman who values individual style and distinct design.

 "Briwok" — pronounced BREE-wok — is one of the most personal things Taryn carries with her every day.
It’s a nickname she had for her best friend Brianne, whom she met in college over a shared love of thrifting, fashion, and dancing. Brianne was Taryn’s person — the kind of friend who shapes you. When Brianne tragically passed away in their senior year, she left behind a spark in Taryn that never went out.
Briwok is built in her honour. Every piece is a quiet tribute to a woman who loved beautiful things and lived joyfully — and an invitation for every customer to do the same. 

The Process

Every Briwok piece is designed and assembled to order by Taryn and her all-women team, in her island studio. All of our jewellery ships from North Stradbroke Island in our beautiful sunshine, yellow boxes with a pouch for storage and thankyou note. 

Our Manufacturing

Some of our designs are produced in partnership with our trusted manufacturer in Qingdao, China — a team we’ve worked closely with for over six years. This relationship is built on trust, transparency, and a shared commitment to doing things the right way. 
All of our manufactured pieces are crafted using recycled metals with silver and gold plating, as well as stainless steel — because the planet deserves to be part of the process too.
We’re on a continual journey toward a more sustainable future, and while we don’t claim to be perfect, we show up every day committed to doing better — for our customers, our makers, and the world we all share.
